Position Summary
Leads and supports service delivery related to the following specialized areas: Network, including LAN, WAN, Internet, Wireless with secondary support for VoIP telephony and video conferencing systems. This individual is the subject matter expert and possesses an in-depth technical understanding of technologies used in the Hillenbrand IT global network.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Work with telecommunications carriers to resolve complex issues (MPLS, SIP, Internet)
- Maintain software versions and upgrades for equipment
- Coordinates support tasks between different IT groups & disciplines
- Top level of ticket support. Work to resolution and maintain a short MTTIR (Mean Time To Incident Resolution)
- Performs day-to-day routine tasks independently
- Researches and maintains current in assigned technical area
- Troubleshoots and resolves expert level problems independently
- Assists with information security and processes
- Assists with user and group access management
- Technical lead on medium to large level projects 3-12 months in length
- Participates in projects of various complexity and length
- Provides after hours on-call level 2 support and level 3 support
- Monitors the system and reviews and analyzes system logs
- Manages vendor relationships and responsibilities in partnership with EIS VMO
- Mentors others and assists management with low-level peer review
- Implements process documentation in assigned technical area
- Delegates work where appropriate
- Works with the business, IT teams, and EIS to architect routine technical solutions
- Other duties may be assigned
Education
Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university in computer science or related degree; and a minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis in information technology.
Skills/Experience
- Deep vendor-specific experience engineering and supporting the following:
- F5 Big-IP and Viprion LTM and ASM
- Juniper EX-series switches, MX-series routers and SRX firewalls
- Cisco ISR routers on MPLS networks and Internet VPN
- Aruba Wireless LAN
- Blue Coat Proxy SG and cloud proxy solutions
- Advanced knowledge and experience with all of the following protocols and technologies:
- OSI Data Model, TCP/IP Networking, DHCP, DNS, SNMP
- Analyzing and mentoring others to solve network problems independently
- Layer 3 Routing experience (OSPF, iBGP, eBGP, HSRP, VRRP, MPLS)
- Layer 2 Switching experience (ethernet, spanning tree, VLANs, trunking)
- Experience with other protocols/services (VRF, GRE, WCCP/FBF, CDP/LLDP/LLDP-Med)
- Layer 1 Network experience with media types including fiber optics (Single Mode, Multi-mode, CAT5/6, T1's, CSU/DSUs, etc.)
- Engineering and implementing Network security and security practices
- Performing WAN/LAN Configuration management and administration
- Enterprise firewall administration (Cisco ASA, Juniper SRX, etc.)
- Intermediate experience with the following technologies:
- VoIP Administration and troubleshooting skills (SIP, SCCP, Dial-Peers, etc.)
- Video conferencing systems (H.323, H.225, SIP)
- Creating telephony solutions
- Familiarity with some of the following types of technologies:
- Cisco Unified Communications Manager (v9 & v10), including:
- UCCX (multiple small implementations)
- Unity voice messaging
- Inter-cluster Cisco UCM call routing
- Centralized SIP trunking
- Polycom (RMX) and Cisco video conferencing systems
- Advanced problem solving skills required
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
- Intermediate project management skills as a technical lead required
- Intermediate level architecture experience preferred
