The Batesville Internship Experience
Our 10-12 week internships provide an opportunity for students to gain valuable hands-on experience through rewarding projects and robust summer programs. We assign challenging tasks that build on the intern’s skills and enhance their business savvy. From the start, interns are given a mentor, engage with executives, visit multiple company locations, participate in teambuilding exercises, and attend several entertaining activities. All of this strategic programming focuses on the company’s key core competency, intentional talent development, which emphasizes their personal growth. Project Summary: The project listed will provide a unique experience with hands on development, as well as communication of status and deliverables to key stakeholders and Logistics Management
Project Title: Improve shipping processes for urns to reduce process cost, improve product quality, and reduce lead time
Project Deliverables
1. Understand the current business
2. Develop a future state business model
3. Present ideas for how to improve shipping
4. Implement or trial ideas
Key Learnings/Development
1. Ability to manage and drive for results
2. Skills in financial analysis
3. Lean skills and process mapping
4. Interpersonal & presentation skills through working with a large organization and different levels of management
Required Degree/Skills/Experiences:
1. Seeking a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Operations Management or Materials Management
2. Excellent computer skills
Preferred Degree/Skills/Experiences:
1. Knowledge of JD Edwards or PeopleSoft, Ortec and XRS
2. Problem solving skills
3. Familiar with Six Sigma and/or principles in statistical control
